COTA - Circuit of the Americas
The project for the first US-based circuit with the goal of serving all major track racing series began in 2010, in Austin, Texas. The circuit presents some highly complex sections, traveled at very high average speeds. At 5.5km long, it's set in a hilly area, which brings some very impressive short braking zones mixed with straights where it's easy to pick up speed in an incredibly short period of time. With all the major events packed, the circuit is close to the hearts of locals, with a record attendance of 400,000 people in a single race weekend.
Indianapolis Expressway
Have you ever seen a place where a race track is so important that a city is named after it? Well, Indianapolis is one of those places, as it is located in a city called "Speedway". The circuit is the second oldest racing circuit in all of humanity, built in 1909, just two years after Brookland (UK), the first to exist. This should tell you a lot about the huge motorsport culture that this place in Indiana (USA) has in its heritage. Everything around here is completely taken over by a passion for engines, speed, tires and everything that goes along with a racing vehicle. Indianapolis has long been known for its impressive oval section, which features extreme banking for high-speed racing. As the capital of motorsports, the circuit has been able to evolve and now also boasts an FIA Grade 1 layout, hosting the Indianapolis 8 Hours for the Intercontinental GT Challenge by SRO and many other racing categories across all disciplines. Carl G. Fisher would be very proud of the legacy he created for the entire motorsports industry.
Watkins Glen, near Seneca Lake in New York State, USA, was first opened in 1956 and was built to relocate auto racing events previously held in nearby towns and highways to a suitable speedway . It has been home to all the major racing disciplines throughout its history, where it has become very popular as the "Mecca" of North American motorsports. Initially, racing activities in this area were promoted by Cameron Argetsinger, whose family's summer residence was located nearby. The family collaborated with the local authorities and began to organize racing events, giving life to the future circuit that also hosted the Grand Prix of the United States of America for years.
